Considering there is so much emphasis on youth at Arsenal I thought it only right that we here at Vital Arsenal bring you the important news from the reserve and youth teams.

So from now on I will bring you a roundup of all the important news from the young guns.

Where better to start than the Youth Cup?

Arsenal’s academy team progressed to the fourth round after coming back from a goal down against Wycombe Wanderers.

The youth team, as most of you know, play with the same philosophy as Arsene wenger’s first team. So it came as some suprise when Wycombe took the lead after 11 minutes through Callum Botham.

Arsenal took the game by the scruff of the neck and the onslaught began. Fran Merida, Jay Simpson and Rui Fonte all went close.

the score stayed at 1-0 untill the 45th minute when Simpson slid Ogogo’s cut back into the back of the net.

The goal seemed to give Arsenal a huge lift but the game still went to exra time when Nacer Barazite placed a delightl shot past the young Wanderers ‘keeper to see Arsenal through to the next round.

Speaking to the club’s official website matchwinner Nacer Barazite said he believes the team can go all the way in this year’s cup.

Barazite said: “Of course we can win. We always want to win. We are first in the league and we want to do well in this competition too. With a team like this of course we can win.

“I`ve heard Arsenal haven`t won this cup in a long time and we can change that. I think we all have great futures ahead of us but we have to keep working hard.”

“It feels wonderful because I didn`t start, I was on the bench, and I hadn`t scored in a long time. Then when I came on it was a draw and I wanted us to win. To score the winning goal is a wonderful feeling.”

“It`s definitely the highlight of my time at Arsenal so far because it was a very important goal in a very big game.”

“I`ve learned a lot since I arrived. The style of football in Holland was different and here you have to work harder and it`s more physical. That`s what I`m working on and I still have to improve but I think I`m better suited to the English game now.”
