On Monday afternoon, speculation began circulating that Arsenal had made a formal approach for Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel.

The BBC were of many to report the speculation and it’s clear to see where it came from given the loss at the weekend to West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns which only intensified the situation surrounding the future of Arsene Wenger.

Wenger said post game as previously covered Here that an announcement would be made ‘very soon’ about whether or not he planned on taking up the two year contract that sits on the table for him or whether he would bow out of the club given his two decades in charge, but news of an approach for Tuchel seems very hasty.

Speculation surrounding a potential sounding out ‘if’ Wenger does hang up his Arsenal boots to so speak would make sense, as I very much doubt the club aren’t conducting due diligence on potential suitors but a direct approach, well it just doesn’t sound very ‘Arsenal’ in behaviour.

For Tuchel’s background, he replaced Jurgen Klopp in the summer of 2015 when he departed for Liverpool and he has led the side tot he last eight of the Champions League and they currently sit third in the Bundesliga table.
