In the lead up to the meeting with Bournemouth this afternoon, which is of course a game Jack Wilshere isn’t going to feature in as he’s ineligible for the Cherries under the terms of his loan agreement, Arsene Wenger has revealed a new contract will be offered to him in the New Year.

Wilshere’s loan exit could have been seen as his time with Arsenal coming to an end, in all honesty I’ve thought as much myself and shared such views, however Wenger has said an extended deal, to the one that runs until the end of next season, will be offered to the England international.

During his pre-match conference before the game, at the Emirates Stadium this afternoon, Wenger was asked about Wilshere’s future and the chances of an extended deal being offer, with Sky Sports quoting him as saying this in reply.

‘Yeah of course. Certainly we have to plan that around the New Year yes.’

Wenger added the decision to allow Wilshere to join Bournemouth, with him playing regularly so far, stating injury free and earning the England recall he wanted, has proven to be a ‘good decision.’

‘I’m happy he is developing well and it was a good decision to go to Bournemouth as he gets regular football. The observations I am getting is that he is getting stronger every week and that is what he needed. I am happy he has not had any injuries.’

As for the game itself Wenger obviously looking for all three points to close the gap on leaders Chelsea, which stands at six points going into this one, but he isn’t expecting Bournemouth to make this easy for the Gunners.

Now we know, Wilshere will be offered a new deal but will he sign it?
