Well, according to Sky Sports anyway, Arsenal have finally opened talks with Lyon in regards to a deal for Alexandre Lacazette.

Having made a ‘nice offer’ for the Frenchman, 26, previously, which left the French club suggesting Lacazette wasn’t for sale following his failed Atletico Madrid switch, scuppered after the Spanish side saw the Court of Arbitration for Sport’s upholding a summer transfer window ban, a deal could be on.

Reported on Friday, Arsenal were ‘close’ to sealing a £50m deal for the French international, who saw a potential move to the Gunners fail a year ago as did West Ham’s £43m club record bid, as far as Sky is concerned.

However, Jean-Michel Aulas, Lyon’s president, has informed Lacazette can now leave if the club receive a £44m bid, which is something Arsenal will pay and are said to be confident about the chances of signing him, despite the lack of Champions League football – previously seen as a deal breaker.
