In a bid to avoid a repeat of the situation Arsenal are currently faced when it comes to contracts, in many cases those involving key first team players, the Gunners will talk a new deal with Aaron Ramsey.

Ramsey, Arsenal’s match winner in last month’s FA Cup final against Chelsea, has two years on his current deal but in the hope of preventing this dwindling down to 12 months discussions have opened with the former Cardiff midfielder.

There’s no news on extensions for Kieran Gibbs, Jack Wilshere and Wojciech Szczesny, out-of-contract next summer, which is often overshadowed by Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Talks are ongoing with Ozil but have stalled with Oxlade-Chamberlain, the remainder, including Alexis, are edging towards that revolving door, be that this summer or the next.

Arsenal could be in a position where Ramsey, along with Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck, go into next summer having just a year on their deals to so in order to get ahead of this lines of communication will open, firstly with Welsh international Ramsey, 26, who is seen as the player the Gunners are most worried about leaving in that period of uncertainty.
