Arsenal Old Boys Return

Arsenal take on high flying Portmouth at Ashburton Grove tomorrow in a game that see’s 3 Arsenal legends return to their former club, barring a latest fitness test here or there.

Kanu, Sol Campbell & the great Tony Adams will travel to North London in what is effectively a six pointer, to visit their former teams new home for the very first time.

Most people wouldn’t think of all three of those players as Gooner legends, but I certainly do.

Tony Adams requires no explination. Arsenal captain, Mr Arsenal, Arsenal legend, Arsenal through and through. ‘Nuff said.

Sol Campbell is an Arsenal legend because he was Spurs captain, we got him for free, in his first season we did the double & and he scored the only goal to date that Arsenal has ever scored in a European cup final. Ok so he had his problems, but the good far out weighed the bad.

That leaves us with Kanu. Not the greatest player in the world by any stretch of the imagination, but a player of extreme skill alway had me purring with delight. And the mere thought of one of the greatest ever hat-tricks has me covered with ‘goosebumples’ as the magnificent third crashes into the onion bag in the minds eye.

It’s always nice to have former Gooners return to our club on a good note, so lets give them an extremely warm welcome to the Grove, and then smash them to pieces on the pitch.
