Having had time to process the suggestion of Arsenal and Manchester City doing a straight swap deal for Alexis Sanchez and Sergio Aguero, this really doesn’t sound a bad idea, does it?

Yes, Alexis scored 30 goals last season but you’d have to think an Aguero, regularly starting, as he would at Arsenal, would score as many goals, if not more than his fellow South American? The Argentine has proven himself in the Premier League year-in-year-out.

Man City’s interest in Alexis is well documented, at least regularly speculated. Then again Arsenal’s lack of interest in selling to a Premier League rivals is also know, which does make sense.

However, the Daily Star’s ‘exclusive’ claims a swap deal could be offered up may be the ideal solution for Aguero, 29, and Alexis. No cash, just a plain and simple swap deal.

Of course, speculating such a deal doesn’t actually mean anything unless it comes about, but if Aguero, who has three years on his current deal at the Etihad Stadium, is willing to jump onboard at Arsenal as Alexis, who seems as if he wants out at the Gunners, is clearly wanted by his former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola, whilst not quite fancying Aguero, this has to be a win-win.

In theory this is oh so simple; in practice could it become a reality? I’d do a deal without much hesitation to be honest.
