Jean-Michel Aulas has confirmed an Arsenal offer for Alexandre Lacazette. However, the French international will not be leaving Lyon.

Having seen an agreement reached prior to a transfer ban being upheld this summer, Lacazette’s proposed switch to Atletico Madrid might have broke down but Arsenal’s undisclosed – but ‘nice offer’ – for the forward is doomed to fail.

Lyon were prepared to let Lacazette, 26, join Atletico but any willingness to offload the free scoring forward have now been shelved as Aulas has ruled out letting him leave the Ligue 1 side.

Quoted by Sky Sports, Aulas said: ‘Alexandre Lacazette was told he could leave. We had negotiations with Atletico. Things did not work out. We now have a very nice offer from Arsenal. But for us he will not leave.’

It’ll be interesting to see if the Lyon stance would change should a very nice offer become an offer that were too good to refuse? But as things stand Arsenal will not be securing the signature of Lacazette.
