Arsenal likely open to selling inconsistent duo, according to Chris Wheatley

Arsenal are likely to be open to letting Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah leave in the summer transfer window, according to football.london.

The strikers will both be into the final year of their contract at the end of the season with the club yet to open talks with either player over a new deal.

It follows on from the potential departure of Folarin Balogun, whose deal expires at the end of the current campaign, as the youngster holds out on signing a new deal.

Will Arsenal play European football next season?

Yes

No

With the number nine position proving to be one of the more difficult ones for the Gunners this season, there’s no surprise that wholesale changes could be undertaken. The north London outfit have struggled for goals all season long, having notched up just 15 in their 12 home Premier League games, the fewest of any club in the top 11.

The situations surrounding Nketiah and Lacazette do prove to be quite strange in themselves. Neither player are bad in any regard, however, consistency is missing from both. Whilst the England youth international has looked brilliant in the Europa League, he’s been far from convincing in any of his league outings.

Meanwhile, the former Lyon man has endured what can only be described as a rollercoaster campaign. He started off the season in red-hot form, scoring three in his first three games before going on a mammoth drought. The ace has since returned to form with seven-goal contributions in his last nine fixtures.

It’s easy to see why the club would want to move on from the two stars. They’ve proven to be far from ideal options this season, and if the club can pick up cheaper alternatives in the market
