It was being reported yesterday that Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny was set for a summer switch to Juventus.

Having lost out in the Champions League final to Real Madrid last weekend, it seems their plans to try and find a long term replacement for clear legend Gigi Buffon will see them make a £14million move for Szczesny.

Sky Sports were reporting that they understood that a deal has been agreed in principle between the two clubs and also that Juventus have struck agreement with the player on a four year deal worth around £3.5million per season to take him to the Juventus Stadium as they go for seven Serie A titles in a row next term.

Having impressed in his two season spell at Roma, they finished as runners up to Juventus in the title race this year, the 27 year old’s future at Arsenal has long been in doubt.

With Buffon having a year left on his deal it would mean Szczesny would be understudy for a season but he would then have free reign between the sticks.

Should this move come off he’ll leave having made a total of 181 appearances for the side since arrival from Legia Warsaw back in 2006.
