So as expected Arsenal were eliminated from the Champions League by Barcelona after losing 3-1 at the Nou Camp. The tie finished 5-1 on aggregate and I think the score-line did flatter Barca a little bit.

In the context of a single tie there is no shame to going out to Barcelona, in their front 3 of Messi, Suarez and Neymar they have one of the finest forward lines in the history of the game, on the face of it we performed pretty well last night.

Not many sides go to Camp Nou and have 20 shots on goal. Of course only three were on target but wastefulness has been the story of our season. So yeah, there`s no embarrassment here.

In the wider context that`s two competitions we`ve exited in the space of four days, and a loss at Everton this weekend would almost certainly make it the tri-fector from hell. Had we performed in games in the FA Cup and the League as we did last night then we`d be sat here this morning holding our hands up to the better side and concentrating on a league and cup double.

However as it is we`re now fighting for our lives one game at a time. The pressure and each and every game between now and the end of the season is immense, if we don`t want to suffer and complete and total implosion then we`ll have to win almost all of them.

Can the boys stand up to the pressure? Recent history is not on our side.
