Arsenal In For A Tough Time

Blackburn manager, Mark Hughes, says Real Madrid’s fatal mistake was allowing Arsenal too much time and space, an error he won’t be emulating this Saturday.

Arsenal ripped the heart from the Madrid team in the first leg of the knock out stage in the Champions League, but Hughes reckons they had a helping hand from the Galactico’s with their inability to close us down.

‘If you allow players time and space in which to operate then they have the ability to hurt you,’ said Hughes.

‘Real stood off Arsenal too much and never really put them under any pressure, as a consequence they had the space to exploit.

‘I would like to think we won’t allow them that kind of time and space this weekend as they have struggled when they have faced teams that have denied them space.

‘That’s what you have to do when you play teams as accomplished as they are, you must play at a high tempo because they have got the individual talent to win games out of nothing.’

However, Sparky is a football man, and didn’t want to take anything away from Arsenal’s performance.

‘It was an outstanding performance but I was hoping for a more intense game for them.

‘Although they might not be as physically drained as I’d have liked, I’m hoping it will have taken something out of them emotionally.’
