Arsenal duo Rob Holding and Jack Wilshere are represented in the League Cup Team of the Tournament that has been selected after this weekend’s Final between Arsenal and Manchester City.

The performances by Rob Holding and Jack Wilshere in Arsenal’s EFL Cup run this season was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the League Cup competition.

I think we’ll already know ourselves why the duo were selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the EFL Cup blurb read.

Holding:

‘With Holding among Arsenal`s backline, they`ve excelled in the Carabao Cup, keeping clean sheets against Doncaster Rovers, West Ham United, and in the semi-final first leg against Chelsea. The only goal conceded with the 22-year-old on the pitch came against Norwich City, but the defender more than played his part in the 120 minutes.’

Wilshere:

‘Wilshere excelled in the Arsenal midfield and has played an integral role in their progress to today`s Carabao Cup Final. He may have missed the quarter-final win against West Ham United, but his all-action, energetic displays helped the Gunners through in their four other matches. This competition brings the best out of the exciting and nimble-footed midfielder.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to the duo for their recognition.
