For the second time this season Arsenal will travel to Anfield in a domestic cup competition.

The Gunners were drawn with the scousers after boxing greats Amir Khan & Ricky Hatton pulled the balls at FA headquarters.

Arsenal face Liverpool at Anfield in the Carling Cup later this month and then travel there in early Janurary for the FA cup third round.

Elsewhere the Tiny Totts once again drew an easy team in Cardiff City, no doubt Kerrea Gilbert’s Bluebirds will triumph. Man Utd feature in another all Premiership tie as they host Aston Villa, while Chelsea have the plum tie of Macclesfield at home.

Draw in full:-

Blackpool v Aldershot/Basingstoke
Barnet v Colchester
Sheff Utd v Swansea
Reading v Burnley
Portsmouth v Wigan
Mansfield/Doncaster v Bolton
West Ham v Brighton
Leicester v Fulham
Derby v Wrexham
Wolves v Oldham
Bury/Chester v Ipswich
Man Utd v Aston Villa
Sheff Wed v Man City
Tamworth v Norwich
Salisbury/Nottm For v Charlton
Cardiff v Tottenham
Preston v Sunderland
Liverpool v Arsenal
Bristol Rovers/Bournemouth v Hereford
Watford v Stockport
Crystal Palace v Swindon
Bristol City v Coventry
Peterborough v Plymouth
QPR v Luton

  • first the carling cup, now the fa cup too. Well, to be the best, you gotta beat them. So up to anfield we go, and let’s hope we come back with a fouth round tie to await…

  • Great…so that makes three trips to Anfield in what, four months? That’s fair. The odds of winning even once there isn’t exactly great, let alone three times. That said I plan to watch all three matches at the home of the Liverpool Canada supporters club (from what I’ve seen they’re a classy lot), so the atmosphere should be pretty cool. That’s a crazy ass draw though…three all Premiership ties and the Gordies hosting Birmingham, while Chelsea of course draws a team playing in division 7.

  • you always tend to get this sort of thing each season, two teams seem to draw each oother in both cups, in close proximity, and a league meeting sandwiching it… it surely won’t be easy, and we were absolute pony at their ground last season…

  • It will make for a couple of good contests. If we win AWESOME, if we lose, at least it’s not to someone like Grimsby, Port Vale or Leicester!!

  • The annoying thing is that it’s still away, always, Carling Cup away, Fa Cup and last season Bolton away.
I want at least one home match.

  • it might be away but then we can do with more form away from home, so maybe these away games can help us figure out our away game good and proper. I just want us to acquit ourselves better at anfield this year than we did last.

  • An away draw at a North West Premiership side? Never saw that coming! The cup is fast losing its magic, I dread to think what the tv companies will do to the kick off!

  • I think we’re a decent chance for both cup ties. At least Liverpool are a team that will try to play football, as opposed to the likes of the Bolton Wanderers Rugby Club.

  • Looks like a dangerous match, coz we know liverpool are cpable of playing good football. That said, i’d always back our chances. Should be interesting!!

  • and i was hoping for a small low division team, the romance and everything, shame.. but we could knock out the holders 😉

  • depends on who is fit blah blah and earnshaw, are you trying to comment on every post there is across the whole of the football leagues ?
