Arsenal have today confirmed the speculation that manager Arsene Wenger has now signed a new two year deal at the club.

The BBC report that following today’s meeting – coming after the talks with Stan Kroenke – an official announcement will be made on Wednesday, but our long standing manager will extend his 21 year reign at the club by a further two seasons.

Undoubtedly the FA Cup win over Chelsea played its part here as for many registering a record 7th for Wenger and 13th for Arsenal FA Cup victory does slightly offset the fact we missed out on Champions League football.

But what that means for the fans who protested this season, well that’s up in the air but with a presumed easier Europa League campaign to contend with – depending on what side of the fence you sit – what matters now is a statement of intent over the summer with transfer dealings and next year has to show improvement on this campaign.

Hopefully, for all concerned, the summer is bright and the season begins that way and maybe then Wenger can go out in style backing up his history at the club in proper fashion.
