Former Arsenal forward Serge Gnabry’s hat-trick on his debut for Germany was bound to raise a few eyebrows.
It certainly saw his Werder Bremen ‘poke fun’ at Arsenal.
During his time with Arsenal Gnabry, who was capped at U21 level, managed just the one goal in his 18-matches with him already scoring four-goals for Bremen since leaving the Gunners for the German side in the summer.
Gnabry’s form saw him included in the German squad for the latest internationals with him making his debut against San Marino in a World Cup qualifier on Friday, scoring a hat-trick in the eight-nil win.
Bremen then put out this tweet.

However Arsenal made sure we got the last laugh!
In reaction to this we put out our own tweet that reminded Bremen of the six-two thrashing secured over them in the 2000 UEFA Cup semi-final.

Players come and players go, like Gnabry.
He always had ability but (like so many before him, and no doubt many after him) it just didn’t work for him at Arsenal. Fair play to him for getting his German career going, and on a hat-trick debut, but there shouldn’t be any ‘regrets’ at allowing the 21-year-old to leave should there.
