Another Happy Gunner

After a week fron heaven (and hopefully another on the way) Jose Antonio Reyes tells of the dark times he faced in his first few months in England, how he nearly left, and how happy he is to stay.

Reyes scored an own goal on his debut, and then after initially weathering the storm and a cracking start to the 04/05 season Reyes looked settled, but after being kicked half to death at Old Trafford in the infamous 50th game of our unbeaten run, Reyes’ Arsenal career took a nose dive from there.

Now however, he has found a run of form, and while the goals aren’t exactly flowing, Reyes has put in many grafting performances this season that has seen him earn a place in Spains world cup squad.

Reyes said: ‘I have to admit at the beginning of my stay in England I did struggle a little bit and I thought about leaving the team.

‘Now, with the help of my family and colleagues, I am very happy here and don’t want to leave.

‘No particular player helped me – we all help each other and I could not single out one person from my family because they all helped as well.

‘Privately they were telling me England is not such a bad place and just because I didn’t speak English, it shouldn’t be a barrier for my happiness at Arsenal.

‘In the winter when it gets dark at 3pm in the afternoon, I get depressed. But when it is sunny I am quite happy. But I am now very happy here.’

Jose works so hard and gives 110% for the cause, he has been slammed for going to ground to easily but I have noticed a great improvment in him of late, trying to stay on his feet to see what he can fashion. A couple of goals against Man City and his confidence is soaring, I’m tipping him to score in Paris.
