Good news emerging from the Arsenal site this morning, with the news being confirmed that Carlos Vela has been granted a work permit to play for Arsenal in this coming season.

Vela, who has been on loan in Spain the past 2 seasons, will be competing for a first team berth after impressing many with his pace, trickery and workrate.

Wenger sees the young Mexican as a striker, and as such, he will be competing for a first team place with Adebayor, Van Persie, Bendtner, Walcott (who we may see move centrally more often next year…) and Eduardo (once he recovers fully from his injury).

Vela also has the scope to operate out wide, thus giving Arsenal good options for positional cover.
