Manager Arsene Wenger has picked out Alexis Sanchez for special praise following victory over Sunderland on Tuesday evening.

Hosting the already relegated side at the Emirates Stadium for the game, an Alexis brace gave us the two nil victory and the player obviously featured in questioning following the game.

Speaking to the Official Site as he met with the media following the game, he admitted Alexis was a doubt before the game with the knock he picked up but he couldn’t have been more pleased with his performance and contribution again.

He also admitted the decision to put him in the team came at 4pm on the night of the game.

‘With him, I feel he had something still left, but once he`s on the pitch and gets the ball, he always becomes a devil and forgets his pain. Nobody questions his desire and his quality. It shows as well that if you look at his numbers, he has developed here as a player and has become a top-class player and has not wasted his time here. Hopefully that will last for a long time.’

Wenger also confirmed that Aaron Ramsey was ‘alright’ following the match but he dodged all talk of transfers with speculation stating we have already signed Sead Kolasinac.

‘No, we have nothing to say about transfers at the moment.’

Implying the speculation was a nod to his own future, Wenger was asked if he was looking forward to working with the player.

‘I`m looking forward to working with myself!’

Sunderland stopper Jordan Pickford also took praise.

‘He had an exceptional night. I think we had 36 shots at goal, the highest in the Premier League. The keeper saved 11 of them, so he has done extremely well.’

And speculation linking us with Pickford.

‘We have plenty of goalkeepers. We have Petr Cech, Ospina, we have Wojciech who is only on loan at Roma and has had an exceptional season. We have Emi Martinez. If there`s one thing we don`t need to buy, it`s a goalkeeper.’
