Manager Arsene Wenger obviously had words of praise for Alexis Sanchez’s overall performance on the day.

With Alexis getting his 21st goal of the campaign at the Bet365 Stadium in our four one victory, the goal was also his 50th in the Premier League in only 101 matches.

Speaking about the Chile internationals contribution, Wenger told the Official Site in his post game press conference that Sanchez had asked prior to the goal to come off as he believed he had taken a knock to a stomach muscle so he was simply seeing if he could work it off.

‘I didn`t plan to take him off, he asked to come off. First, I thought he had done a stomach muscle, so I thought that it would maybe go away again. I left him on for a little bit to see how he responded. After that, he stayed on and scored another goal. That`s Alexis, he`s a fighter who always finds resources. He delivered the third goal which made the difference.’

With Alexis and Ozil and our new formation, Wenger believed that both players were enjoying the roles it allowed them to play.

‘They enjoy it. At the moment we are efficient in doing that, so overall it works.’

Pressed on the injury Alexis did take on the day that led to his 77th minute replacement by Aaron Ramsey.

‘It`s a kick on the thigh.’

Finally his thoughts on Peter Crouch’s goal.

‘What do you think? No, but I was suspicious about the noise of the ball. I went to the fourth official because it had been confirmed. I was surprised that he got to the ball when I saw his position. People told me it was handball.’
