Arsene Wenger believes that Alexis Sanchez will return to training with the Arsenal first team this coming Tuesday.
Following an extended summer break for international action, Alexis was due back at the camp on Sunday but having instagramed the following:
Wenger confirmed that he had picked up the flu and would likely return to training on Tuesday when he was given the all clear.
‘He has flu, yes. I had him on text yesterday.’
With his ‘illness’ causing plenty of speculation surrounding the ongoing speculation with his futures with links to Manchester City and Paris Saint Germain in particular, Wenger was adamant that was unrelated as he spoke to the BBC.
‘There’s no development – he is staying, of course.’
‘The players who have one year of their contract have to respect their contract and play out their contract. For a manager, it’s a bit different because it concerns more what is the future of the club. The players were thinking, ‘What’s going on and what’s happening?’, so it creates uncertainty with my contract because it’s a global policy. I am responsible for the global policy of the club but for the players it is different.’
