The future of Alexis Sanchez has been plunged into further doubt after he was left out of Arsenal’s defeat at Liverpool on Saturday.

Arsene Wenger insisted the decision to drop Alexis was tactically based but a series of reports over the weekend have claimed this decision was made after a number of rows with the boss in recent weeks.

The Mirror claimed Alexis has ‘made it clear he wants to quit this summer’ with Paris Saint Germain and Juventus leading the way for his signature.

It continued Wenger was reportedly furious with the Chile international after the Bayern Munich thrashing for ‘being selfish, turning on his team-mates both out on the pitch and after the game.’

Alexis has also ‘become increasingly difficult to manage’ with the 28 year old throwing another strop before he was informed of the decision he would be left out of the starting XI at Anfield with him coming on at half time. You have to wonder why he was involved at all in light of these claims?

Sources in the Mirror also claim Alexis – whilst he isn’t planning to stay with Arsenal – doesn’t want to return to Italy but a return to Spain for the former Barcelona man to join Atletico Madrid is unlikely.

These reports have been followed up with the BBC reporting another ‘angry exchange’ seeing him ‘leaving training mid-session’ in the lead up to the Liverpool game confirmed Wenger’s decision to leave him out on Saturday.

Wenger’s own future could determine the forward’s future – and others – according to Mark Schwarzer. He told BBC Match of the Day 2 Extra.

‘I think Alexis Sanchez, and a number of players, are waiting to see what Wenger does. If Wenger stays on, I think we’ll see a large turnover of players coming in and players leaving. If he leaves then it depends who comes in and replaces him, what his ideas are, and that will determine whether players like Sanchez and (Mesut) Ozil re-sign.’
