Reported Arsenal interest in Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez – also linked with Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan – could be derailed by AC Milan?

According to Transfer Market Web – via the Daily Star – Arsenal and Premier League rivals Liverpool ‘are keen’ on Rodriguez, who looks set to leave the Bernabeu in the summer, but AC Milan’s recent takeover by a Chinese consortium could give them the funds others can’t compete with? As such it was claimed we’ll all face an ‘uphill battle’ to sign the Colombian.

Rodriguez, 25, who came off the bench to seemingly salvage a point against Barcelona on Sunday only for Real to lose El Clasico in added time, still has four years on his contract – the Spanish side are looking to recoup much of the £63m they paid to Monaco for him in 2014.

The Colombian international had impressed in France but really made his name at the 2014 World Cup finals, which gained him his transfer to Real. However, Rodriguez has struggled for regular football in the past couple of seasons, starting just nine league game this season.

He’s a quality footballer but circa-£60m good? I’m not convinced and can’t see Arsenal going anywhere near such a fee so this apparent Gunners interest probably isn’t going to amount to anything, is it?
