It feels like forever since that that hilarious day in May where Tottenham Hotspur noticed their old pals in North London looking a little down after another mediocre season and decided to give us a summer long laugh by blowing the best chance they ever had of finishing above us.

The European Championships is giving us our football fix and while there has been some great matches and stunning goals …. it`s just not Arsenal.

So the release of the 2016/17 fixtures yesterday gave us the first whiff in the air of club football and something to look forward.

The PL computers decided to give us a home fixture to kick of the season against Jurgen Klopp`s Liverpool. The Scouser`s having been going insane over his appointment and the fact he blew two finals and was mediocre in the league has deterred them, they cite the squad Klopp has at his disposal is not “his team” and next season will be a truer representation of what he can do at Anfield.

The Reds will want to get off to a strong start as work on their stadium means 4 out of their first 5 games will be away and in those four games they have Arsenal, Spurs, Leicester and Chelsea so they`ll want to hit the ground running.

We follow that up with a trip to the Champions. The Foxes only lost 3 games in the whole of last season and 66% of those were to Arsenal. It`s widely believed that Leicester will not be able to replicate their amazing season however we spent all last campaign saying they`d burn out, so what do we know? If the Gunners do indeed sign Jamie Vardy then they will have lost one of their most dangerous players to the team who beat them twice.

Fireworks are sure to fly on 5th November (did you see what I did there?) as Arsenal host Spurs at The Grove for not only the first North London derby of the season but more importantly our first chance to really mock Spurs for their laughable end of the season.
