‘He won’t leave to Galatasaray’: Agent confirms ace will sign new contract with Arsenal

Arsenal’s Mohamed Elneny will put pen to paper on a new contract with the north London club, according to the player’s agent.

The Gunners midfielder has enjoyed a renaissance under manager Mikel Arteta after returning from his loan spell with Besiktas.

His deal was due to expire at the end of next season, however, Alan Nazmy has confirmed the midfielder won’t be moving back to Turkey despite links with Galatasaray.

Nazmy said: “Elneny will renew his contract with Arsenal. He won’t leave to Galatasaray or Turkey. Elneny has never thought about leaving. He is happy with Arsenal, and Arteta trusts him.” (Egyptian press via The Sun)

In a world of football where it is hard to find any sort of loyalty from players especially when you’re only offering them a bit-part role, possessing someone like Elneny, who is willing and happy to play such a role proves incredibly vital.

Let’s not make any mistake, if the 27-year-old played anything more than a bench role then the Gunners would be in trouble. Whilst the Egypt international provides incredible levels of energy, his quality on the ball leaves a lot to be desired. The ace has failed to be progressive with his passes this season, showing off limitations in his game.

However, off the bench, he proves more than good enough to help close out a game especially due to his strong defensive ability and, aforementioned, energy levels.

A new contract for Elneny is great news for Mikel Arteta and Arsenal, however, only if the side are proactively chasing a central midfielder of higher quality.

In other news, one ace is looking to leave Arsenal despite his consistent performances recently.
