Report: Consistent ace looking to leave Arsenal despite return to form, says Sky Germany

|

Arsenal’s Granit Xhaka harbours hopes of returning back to the Bundesliga despite his upturn in form this season, according to Sky Germany.

The broadcaster is claiming that the Swiss midfielder is looking to return to the German top-flight despite having more than two years to run on his contract.

Hertha Berlin are thought to be interested in signing the midfielder, who was also a transfer target for the outfit back in December 2019 after his famous meltdown versus Crystal Palace.

Should Arsenal sell Granit Xhaka?

Yes

No

Xhaka has been a pillar of consistency since the stunning 3-1 win over Crystal Palace way back on Boxing Day last year. His performances mixed with his almost ever-present nature has made him a key part of the set-up under Mikel Arteta after the club’s shocking start to the season.

His level of performance since the victory over Frank Lampard’s side have been nothing short of amazing with the defensive midfielder having featured in every single game for the Gunners.

However, given how badly the ace has been treated and been performing since his arrival back in 2016, links with an exit from the Emirates Stadium prove no surprise.

Despite his resurgence in recent months, mistakes have been a consistent part of the Switzerland international’s game since his transfer from Borussia Monchengladbach. Since the start of the 2016/2017 campaign, Xhaka has made the most errors leading to a goal of any player in the Premier League.

Whilst he carries obvious qualities, the statistic is a damning indictment on the mistakes that plague this current Arsenal squad.

One thing is blatantly obvious and that’s Arsenal’s need for an upgrade on the star. His mistakes and lack of consistency are a show of just how unreliable he proves and if Arteta is serious about turning the club into title contenders, it’s a clear change needed.

In other news, Arsenal are in the race to sign a £22.5m-rated Serie A forward.
