Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard is also a summer transfer target for Premier League rivals Chelsea and Liverpool, according to AS.

The Daily Star are claiming that Mikel Arteta’s side fear Real Madrid will up the value of the Norwegian midfielder to £50m.

Odegaard has enjoyed a stunning start to life in north London and scored in back-to-back games versus Benfica and Tottenham Hotspur a few weeks back.

What should Arsenal do regarding Odegaard?

Sign permanently

Extend his loan

Don't bring him back

His performances have caused many fans and ex-players to call for the club to sign him on a permanent basis with Ian Wright dishing out his five reasons why to sign the 23-year-old.

However, given how low the Gunners find themselves in the league table, qualification for the Europa League, never mind the Champions League, is in threat.

Mikel Arteta’s men sit in 9th place, four points and three places off a potential place in the second-tier of European football. The club sits a further nine points off fourth-placed Chelsea, making Champions League football a mere fantasy. However, the outfit are still in the Europa League, but, the unpredictability of their performances this year dampen any hope of seeing the Gunners win the competition easily.

You’d feel should the Reds have any chance of signing the playmaker at the end of the campaign, they’d have to at least be dining among the elite of European football.

And with recent history of trophies and the managerial appointments of Jurgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel also huge factors, you feel if the two English giants hold serious interest, Arsenal’s chances of signing the ace on a permanent deal are even slimmer.

In other news, Arsenal could be asked to stump up £35m+ for a Premier League transfer target.
