Report: Arsenal will listen to offers for ‘big talent’ after demotion to youth squad

|

Arsenal will listen to offers for Reiss Nelson in the summer transfer window, according to CBS Sports.

The England youth international was denied a late loan switch last month after moves to Real Betis, Villareal and Valencia fell through.

He’s been downgraded from the first-team squad to the under-23s in recent weeks having failed to make a breakthrough following his return from a head injury.

Should Arsenal sell Reiss Nelson?

Yes

No

It proves to be a heartbreaking end to what seemed a promising career with Arsenal for the young star. Nelson was once labelled as one of the best 15-year-old Arsene Wenger had ever seen just a few years ago, however, it seems his time with the club is coming to an amicable end.

The Hale End academy star, who was labelled a ‘big talent’ by Alexandre Lacazette, hasn’t exactly set senior football on fire since his breakthrough into the Premier League side back in 2018. As a matter of fact, he’s seemed to have gone backwards with his career having stalled in recent seasons.

Nelson was retained by the club at the start of last season and was in and out of the team throughout the campaign. He figured heavily in the Europa League this year under Mikel Arteta, but, has since been demoted to the under-23s.

It sends out a strong message to the Englishman about where his career in N5 is at and proves to be an incredible shame for a youngster so talented. However, with the likes of Emile Smith Rowe, Bukayo Saka and even Gabriel Martinelli ahead of him in the pecking order, you feel his time in north London is coming to an end.
