Arsenal flop could be next on the chopping block as mass clearout continues – Opinion

AReinforcements will be needed in the summer transfer window.

I mean what more can you expect with Arsenal currently enduring one of their worst campaigns in modern memory as the club languishes in 11th place.

Mesut Ozil, Shkodran Mustafi, Sokratis and Sead Kolasinac have already endured the wrath of the Brazilian, who oversaw the exits of all four players last month with three of them leaving permanently. And with that in mind, there is a raft of players who you can expect to be under the nose of Edu in terms of a clearout.

Should Arsenal sign Manor Solomon?

Yes

No

But, just who should face the chop? Having analysed the squad, there is reason to believe Willian could be in danger of getting cut come summertime.

The Brazilian’s time at the club has been riddled with inconsistent performance after inconsistent performance. And when you take a look at those who hold major re-sale value, you’d have to say the former Chelsea man is up there.

Having just signed for the club on a three-year deal last year, he’ll still have another two years left on his contract at the end of the season. It allows Arsenal to get some money back for a player, who cost them nothing and frees up a space in their squad for the potential arrival of Manor Solomon, who has held talks with Edu.

Signing the winger from Chelsea was always going to be a risk for the Gunners. The red flags were clearly visible when the Blues failed to match his offer of a three-year deal despite ex-manager Frank Lampard’s keenness to keep a hold of the Brazil international.

It’s a deal which hasn’t worked out and for all it’s worth, the hierarchy has a lot of answer for in what can be classed as one of the worst transfer deals in the club’s history.
