Team News: Mikel Arteta reveals positive news on fitness of Gunners duo

|

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has revealed provided some good news ahead of the clash with Manchester United after revealing Dani Ceballos and Pablo Mari are set to return to training over the next few days.

The Real Madrid man has been out of action since the 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace after suffering a calf injury. Meanwhile, the centre-half has been out with a calf injury as well, sustained following the 4-0 win over West Brom.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the clash with Manchester United, the Spaniard revealed the good news concerning the pair.

Arteta said: “I think Dani Ceballos will be training with the squad in the next few days, Pablo Mari probably as well.” (via Arsenal)

Who will win this Saturday's Premier League clash?

With Arsenal performing fairly well defensively over the course of their last few Premier League games with Mari, you wouldn’t expect a start for the former Manchester City ace if he was to test fit for the game.

However, Ceballos could be a key player for the Gunners especially if Partey is ruled out of the fixture after his recent fitness issues. The Ghanaian went off during the victory against Southampton on Tuesday evening with Arteta less than sure over his availability for this weekend’s clash.

Mohamed Elneny and Martin Odegaard are two options available to the former City coach, however, aren’t entirely realistic choices. The Egyptian isn’t creative enough to replace Partey, meanwhile, it proves far too early to throw the Norwegian into a match against a side fighting at the top of the table.

Defence is proving stable at this moment in time,  but, the centre of midfield is a crucial position and if the former Atletico Madrid man does miss out, the north London giants will be praying for Ceballos to prove his fitness.

In other news, Arteta is unsure over the fitness of this ace ahead of the clash with the Red Devils.
