Neil McCann has claimed that former Arsenal man Glen Kamara would ‘walk’ into Arsenal’s team following his recent form for club and country.
The midfielder was released by the north London outfit back in 2017 and had to move to Dundee to restart his career, eventually earning a move to Steven Gerrard’s side in January 2018.
Speaking to Rangers TV, the former Gers man claimed that the Finland international’s release by the club proves ironic because he’d ‘walk’ into Mikel Arteta’s side.

McCann said: “It’s ironic he left Arsenal because he was deemed not good enough. I believe he could play for Arsenal now standing on his head – he’s that good. That boy has the ability to play at a very high level.”
“He’s shown it for Finland and Rangers but I hope he doesn’t go anywhere because I want to see him be a success and he is standing on the edge of winning a title. It only took me five minutes with Glen [to recognise his quality].” (via Rangers TV)
It has been claimed by the Daily Mail that the Gunners have been tracking the midfielder’s progress ever since he left the club back in 2017 having watched him six times. Why the club would release a player who possessed the quality to make the grade in north London is anyone’s guess.
The Finnish ace has been in sensational form for Gerrard’s men this campaign, averaging 91.3% pass accuracy in the Scottish Premiership. He’s a player who actively works to receive possession, averaging 68.8 passes per game in the top-flight, the most when compared to Arsenal’s midfield options.
Moving possession forward and into opposition territory seems to prove difficult for most of the side’s midfielders. Compared to Granit Xhaka, Kamara averages more accurate passes into the opposition half than the Swiss midfielder at a higher percentage.
Kamara’s use of the ball seems to suit Arteta’s style of play, and with forward passes seemingly a myth for the Gunners, the £4.05m-rated 25-year-old is a suitable option for the club.
