Report: Arsenal looking to extend £20k-p/w ace’s contract as they look to banish ghosts of past

|

Arsenal will look to offer Emile Smith Rowe a new long-term contract after his stunning form this season, according to the Daily Mail.

He will enter the final two years of his contract in the summer and the Gunners will want to avoid a situation similar to Folarin Balogun’s. It thought the new deal will double the ace’s wages up to £40k-p/w with the young gun currently earning £20k-p/w.

The Gunners star has enjoyed a stunning start to life in the first-team, scoring two goals and assisting a further three in just 10 games across all competitions.

Could Emile Smith Rowe have featured in the Invincibles team?

Yes

No

It’s nice to see Arsenal are starting to clean up their act after what has been some of the shoddiest activity I’ve ever witnessed from a club. The number of players who have been allowed to leave the club on the cheap or for free is ridiculous especially when you take into account the players who have been kept on by the club.

The likes of Serge Gnabry and Aaron Ramsey are just two examples of players who have been allowed to depart which leaves anyone associated with the club scratching their heads.

I don’t think I need to tell how well the Germany international has done since leaving the club, having won a treble with Bayern Munich last season. Meanwhile, Ramsey won the league title with Juventus as he enjoyed his first taste of top-flight success during his career.

With the Croydon-born youngster having started like a runaway train, and been compared to Premier League legends like Robert Pires, it would be foolish for Arsenal to do anything but extend his current deal and tie him down to the club.

Then you have the departure of Mesut Ozil, which also heightens the need for an attacking midfielder, a void Smith Rowe can fill.

In other news, Arsenal clearout this window is continuing as a club re-enters talks over one player.
