Report: £36m-rated Arsenal target requests transfer away from La Liga giants

|

Arsenal target Martin Odegaard wants to leave Real Madrid on a loan deal as the midfielder was left out of the side’s squad for the Copa del Rey clash, according to AS.

The Gunners are one of a number of sides to hold an interest in the midfielder, who has been struggling for minutes at the La Liga champions this season.

Odegaard was left out of the squad to face minnows Alcoyano after the Norwegian returned to the club following his loan spell at Real Sociedad.

Should Arsenal sign Martin Odegaard?

Yes

No

The Gunners have needed a creative addition to their squad for a number of reasons after a shocking start to the season in the first half of the campaign. A number of issues cropped up for Mikel Arteta’s side including the lack of options during their torrid form in late 2020, the lack of back up for Emile Smith Rowe and transfer targets available in the current window.

Late-2020 proved to be a horrible time for the north London outfit as they lost eight league games in one of their worst starts to a league season in ages. The Croydon-born youngster was brought in to make a difference and has gone on to have a sensational impact. However, with no back-up to the youngster, another addition is desperately needed.

The biggest issue in the current window is the lack of suitable targets who are willing to move mid-season. Manor Solomon is one of the targets being chased in this window, however, is more likely to be a summer transfer. Emiliano Buendia has also been touted, but, with a £40m+ price tag is unlikely to arrive anytime soon.

Odegaard would be an ideal addition to the club given how much quality he showed in his loan spell with Real Sociedad last season. The lack of targets will annoy the Gunners, however, with time counting down, the £36m-rated Norway international proves a fantastic option.

In other news, Gabby Agbonlahor thinks this Premier League ace would be ideal for Arsenal.
