Report: Leicester City join Arsenal in chase for £13.5m-rated French forward

|

Arsenal target Odsonne Edouard is being tracked by Leicester City ahead of a potential transfer approach this month, according to The Daily Mail.

The Gunners were linked with a move for the France youth international during last summer’s transfer window as a replacement for Alexandre Lacazette.

Edouard became a client of The Stellar Group, the same agency that helped arranged Kieran Tierney’s transfer to north London back in 2019.

There’s a real possibility that Lacazette could make his way out of the club in this summer’s transfer window with the ace holding just 18 months left on his contract. Having witnessed mass consistency from the former Lyon man during his three-year stay in north London, not renewing his contract and replacing him with another younger option is the preferable option.

The most goals the forward has ever scored for the Gunners in a single league season is 14. When you compare that to the numbers being put up by title-winning strikers, you realise just how underwhelming the forward is. However, there is the issue surrounding the entire squad and how underwhelming they’ve been during the striker’s time at the club.

In stark contrast, Edouard has been in stunning form for the Hoops since joining the club back in 2018. He scored 21 goals in just 27 league outings for the Parkhead giants as they lifted their ninth consecutive league title. However, he also had great all-round ability, chipping in with 12 assists, showing off his link-up play.

With Lacazette already 29-year-old’s and possessing just one year on his contract this summer, moving him on for Edouard would be a wise decision. But, with Leicester City sniffing around, it seems Champions League football is a must in order to attract the £13.5m-rated 22-year-old.

In other news, Arsenal are interested in a £6.3m-rated ace who downed Real Madrid.
