£25.2m-rated ace is being robbed of assists by Arsenal teammates – Opinion

|

There seems to be a running theme in Arsenal’s season, especially from their left-hand side.

Kieran Tierney crosses the ball into the box, and one of the attackers miss a glaring opportunity.

The Scotsman has been nothing short of sensational this season, however, it seems his teammates haven’t been on the same wavelength as the Scotland international, bar Bukayo Saka.

Should Arsenal sign Yves Bissouma this month?

Yes

No

Yesterday, another example reared its head. The former Celtic man pulled the ball back deliciously for Reiss Nelson, only to watch the young winger miss a great chance. Overall this season, Tierney has registered just three assists and to think of all the brilliant crosses he has put into the box, that is far too little.

So aside from the forwards robbing him from assists following his crosses, just how well has the 23-year-old been performing? Well, the answer to that is fairly simple, exceptionally.

The Scotland international has played the second-most key passes per Premier League game in the Arsenal squad. Let me clarify that in case you think you’ve misread it, only Bukayo Saka has played more key passes than the side’s left-back, Tierney, in the top-flight. It’s a show of how much of a lethal weapon the star is when in the final third.

What makes this all the more baffling is how the £25.2m-rated ace has played eight games at centre-half this season. I understand Tierney is an incredibly versatile player, but, to think Arteta kept him shackled up by playing the ace at left-centre back role is bonkers.

His level of performance has been nothing short of amazing, it’s just a shame the rest of the first-team aren’t following suit.

In other news, Arteta’s comments on Willian are a slap in the face for Arsenal fans.
