Report: £3.6m-rated ace close to sealing summer exit from Arsenal

|

Arsenal youngster Folarin Balogun is close to signing a pre-contract agreement with a European club, according to The Athletic.

The publication are claiming that the club was unable to reach an agreement with the player’s representatives due to the little game time given.

However, this is in stark contrast to the comments from Mikel Arteta, who during his pre-match press conference ahead of the FA Cup clash with Newcastle United, sounded hopeful the club could still reach an agreement with Balogun.

Will Arsenal regret a potential sale of Folarin Balogun?

Yes

No

Having witnessed the quality the 19-year-old possesses if proves sensational the club can’t find an agreement with the youngster. He came on to the pitch during the clash with Dundalk and scored a goal and assisted another despite having just 15 touches of the ball.

He demonstrated great movement and finishing prowess for a player so young, peeling off to the left-hand side of the Irish side’s defence before slotting home into the bottom corner, Thierry Henry-esque style.

In comparison to Eddie Nketiah, you’d say Balogun is far more in tune with what Arteta asks of his number nine, making any potential exit all the more baffling. Whilst the England under-21 international has scored three goals in 450 Europa League minutes, Balogun has struck twice in just 60 minutes.

The difference in potency is crazy and hints at the £3.6m-rated star being the far better option in attacking areas.

In other news, Arsenal have been handed a boost in their pursuit of a Bundesliga midfielder.
