Report: Arsenal need to make this change before making signings this month

|

Arsenal are unlikely to make signings this month if they don’t trim their wage bill, according to The Independent.

The newspaper are claiming that Mikel Arteta knows that the wage bill needs to be trimmed before he can make some signings.

Mesut Ozil’s potential departure is proving difficult due to both his profile and wages, meanwhile, the club are leaning towards loaning out Reiss Nelson and Joe Willock as opposed to selling the duo.

Do Arsenal need to sign a creative midfielder in the January transfer window?

Yes

No

Given how desperately the club need reinforcements, you’d have to say this is pretty worrying news for the Gunners. We, as supporters of the team, all saw in the first half of the season how badly the squad need reshaping.

Creativity seemed like the biggest issue with the north London giants, who scored just 12 goals in their opening 14 Premier League games. It seems the introduction of Emile Smith Rowe, a natural number 10, has got the Reds firing after eight goals in just three league games. However, with the youngster proving injury prone at the mere age of 20, it seems an extra option is needed in attack.

Given how you perceive the club, some would argue that the club need an extra body in midfield. There are currently four options available to Arteta, but, with Mohamed Elneny, Dani Ceballos and Granit Xhaka proving inconsistent all season long, a signing may well be needed.

It seems Ozil’s stand off with the club is proving far more detrimental than I first feared. If the German’s exit isn’t secured, it seems as though the club are likely to get an attacking signing. The move could harm the north London outfit in their pursuit of Champions League football.

In other news, Arsenal are looking to implement this policy after mass success this season.
