Report: Arsenal prepared to let ‘really lovely’ player leave on-loan in January

|

Arsenal could be prepared to letting Emile Smith Rowe join another club on loan in the January transfer window, according to ESPN.

Huddersfield Town were denied the opportunity to sign the young gun on a season-long loan deal back during the summer transfer window.

The Croydon-born midfielder has found himself on the periphery of the first-team squad this season, appearing just once for the first team.

Should Arsenal let Smith Rowe leave on loan in January

Yes

No

It makes absolutely no sense, how can you deny Huddersfield the chance to sign the academy product and certain first-team football? To say Smith Rowe has barely featured in the first-half of the season is an understatement. The Englishman has made just a solitary first-team appearance and to great effect, as he climbed off the bench to assist Folarin Balogun’s first senior goal.

To make matters even worse, the Gunners have struggled to score many goals from open play this year, going on a run over seven hours without one. Without a playmaker like Mesut Ozil in the squad, you would have hoped the 20-year-old could be brought in to fill the void, but it seems Mikel Arteta doesn’t think so.

It’s not like Smith Rowe doesn’t have the ability after what was a stunning loan spell with the Terriers. He scored two goals, assisted a further two, and averaged 1.5 shots, dribbles and key passes per Championship game. His impact helped the club remain in the second tier with manager Danny Cowley labelling him a ‘really lovely player’.

If you didn’t want to afford the player time to impress than why was he kept at the club? The last six months of Smith Rowe’s career have essentially been wasted and that is no fault other than Arsenal’s.

In other news, Garth Crooks voiced his shock over the omission of this Arsenal man from the defeat against Wolves.
