Report: Arsenal linked with move for ‘insane’ £22m Premier League ace

|

Arsenal are keen on swooping in a signing Sheffield United’s Sander Berge, according to VG.

The Gunners were interested in signing the player, who only joined the Yorkshire outfit in January 2020 for a club-record fee of £22m.

However, the north London outfit most likely aren’t the only side who are interested with some Premier League clubs holding having previously been keen on signing the midfielder prior to his move to the Blades.

Would Sander Berge be a good signing for Arsenal?

Yes

No

With Mikel Arteta seemingly not fancying Granit Xhaka and Dani Ceballos at times this season, there could be space for another body in the middle of the park. And one major plus is that Berge has already settled into the English flight having joined last January, potentially making any transition to N5 smooth.

Standing at 6’5, the Norwegian possesses more quality he has on the ball than you’d think, making him an ideal addition for the Gunners. Similar to Thomas Partey, the 22-year-old is brilliantly at carrying the ball and completed more than one dribble per game in his half-season last campaign.

However, his key strength is at shielding a back four with the £16.2m-rated averaging 1.3 tackles and clearances as well as 1.2 aerial duels per game in the top-flight this season. He earnt praise from his former teammates Dean Henderson for his performances last year with the shot-stopper labelling him ‘insane’.
